Bloomberg & Lemontree Continue Impact in 2023

If you know anything about New York, you know the name Bloomberg. They’re a leader in many industries, but particularly when it comes to social impact. Bloomberg is a global business and financial information and news leader. Philanthropy and service are an integral part of Bloomberg’s culture, where last year, more than 18,000 Bloomberg employees from 111 cities around the world came together as part of the company's Best of Bloomberg volunteering, giving, and access programs to make a difference in local communities. And we’re incredibly lucky to have them as a partner.

Bloomberg employees have been giving their time to Lemontree since the inception of our corporate volunteer program. As one of our first corporate partners, Bloomberg helped us pilot the program and prove our hypothesis that remote volunteering could be impactful & engaging. We were fortunate to connect with Bloomberg through FastForward, a nonprofit tech accelerator that Lemontree was a part of in 2021. During the micromentoring sessions that FastForward arranged, Lemontree cofounders Kasumi and Alex met with different Bloomberg employees to hear fresh perspectives on their work & workshop their pitch.

Now, Bloomberg teams join us in the same work we do every day: connecting people to food. Employees hop on Zoom and log onto our volunteer platform, and we spend an hour learning about hunger & matching our food-insecure neighbors to the best resources nearby. We’ve hosted groups from the 2022 class of interns to teams spread across New York, San Francisco, London, and even Sao Paulo!

“When I volunteered with Lemontree for the first time, I just had to come back the next week because of how gratifying the experience was. I saw the impact my messages had on the community members from their responses back and photos, and this made the experience extremely rewarding. It is a great way to contribute back to the city and connect the resources with people that may not have known about them before.” – Doyoun K.

Last year, Bloomberg teams contributed 200 service hours, started 2,772 conversations, and made 8,861 referrals to pantries & soup kitchens. You can see, we’re so grateful for their help, and we’re looking forward to an even bigger year! These numbers are pretty impressive, but we think we can beat them in 2023…

Bloomberg was one of Lemontree’s first corporate partners, and we’re so thrilled to continue working together in 2023 & to deepen our relationship. A special thanks to Malia Simonds, Caspian Brock, Sarah Booth, and everyone at Bloomberg who has helped us make this impact. Keep scrolling for more from the volunteers!
