Lemontree and Foxwynd Foundation partner to ensure Philadelphia families can put food on the table with dignity
The Foxwynd Foundation, through its Donor Advised Fund, has awarded Lemontree with a $20,000 matching grant to support the organization’s programs in the Philadelphia region. Lemontree works to ensure families can access the free food in their communities with dignity–especially during the summer months, when the half of all public schoolers who qualify for free and reduced lunches face greater uncertainty around where their next meal will come from.
Connecting families to resources in their neighborhood
Founded as a local helpline, Lemontree has grown into a platform that now helps over 10,000 people a day navigate food assistance across 11 regions across the US. Since 2020, Lemontree has reached over 1 million families, evolving their tools based on their needs: reliable, up-to-date info; personalized support; and honest reviews to help others know what to expect.
Partnering with food pantries and community organizations to understand changes to the food landscape in real time, surface testimonials from neighbors, and visualize impact is a core piece of Lemontree’s work.
What the gift supports
The $20,000 gift will go towards Lemontree’s Full Summers campaign, aimed at:
- Deepening relationships in the Philadelphia area, investing in collaborations with community partners–from medical clinics to local food councils–that strengthen the safety net for Philadelphia families.
- Expanding the reach of Lemontree’s services through targeted digital advertising in Philadelphia: meeting people where they are to make sure the right information gets to neighbors who need it.
Partnering for dignity and wellbeing
“Access to resources is only meaningful when people can actually find and use them,” said Pamela Villagra, Executive Director of the Foxwynd Foundation. “Lemontree’s ability to connect people with trusted, timely information makes it a powerful bridge between available resources and the families who need them. We’re proud to support their work in Philadelphia and help strengthen a system where no one has to navigate food insecurity alone.”
